Curriculum & Learning Resources

The Richmond Career Education and Employment Academy provides instruction using a unique three-tier curriculum. Each tier is composed of the same ten domains: English, Health & Safety, History, Independent Living, Mathematics, Money Management, Recreation & Community Engagement, Science, Self-Determination, and Vocational. The complexity of skills increases with each tier.

The original curriculum was developed in 2013 by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), Richmond Public Schools (RPS), and VCU Rehabilitation Research and Training Center. Since then, there have been several revisions. The 2022 revision is included in the most recent charter renewal and includes the addition of VDOE's Applied Studies Curriculum Map.
